The Eric Abidal Foundation is supported by the French National Rugby League
Eric Abidal will be the patron of the Top 14 Final in Barcelona.
One of the heroes of the Camp Nou, Eric Abidal, who wore the t-shirt of FC Barcelona for six seasons, will be present at this grand finale. The defender, considered one of the most emblematic players in FC Barcelona history, is still loved by both Barça supporters and French fans. Therefore, who would be a better patron to liaise between rugby, the Camp Nou and France?
Eric Abidal will be next to the National Rugby League (LNR) in several promotional activities during the season. But Eric Abidal is not the only reason for wanting to follow the rugby league; the LNR will also support the Eric Abidal Foundation doing the promotion during the final match and will also help financially. This support will help the Foundation has funds to continue with their projects to help children and young cancer patients, whether hospitalized or still in treatment, not forgetting support for their families.
Why a Top 14 Final in Barcelona?
The Catalan capital beat other locations for its legendary football stadium, the Camp Nou, which has never hosted a rugby match. Its geographical location was also an important feature that finally the Final will be hold in Barcelona and could live an event the day of San Juan, a very popular celebration among Catalans. This has also allowed an approach to the Eric Abidal Foundation, based in Barcelona.
