Objective: Fundraising for paediatric oncology research
Eric Abidal Foundation collaborated with MiCompañeroDeViaje (association that supports young people with cancer) in financing the research project ‘molecular characterization of paediatric sarcomas for a more effective personalised therapy’ from the Research Institute of Vall D’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona.
The main objective of this project was to improve the survival rate thanks to therapy personalization in paediatric patients.
The Department of Paediatric Oncology and Haematology at the Vall D’Hebron University Hospital is a national and international benchmark in the treatment of children cancer and haematological diseases. It provides patients and their families with multidisciplinary and comprehensive care thanks to its experience, human resources and technology, covering all diagnostic procedures and the most advanced treatments. Likewise, its “Group for Translational Cancer Research on Children and Adolescents” in the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) stands out with projects that contribute to better diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and control of these diseases. All its research has clearly translational vocation, i.e., it aims to reach patients with tangible benefits, focusing on diagnosis and treatment improvement.
